Institute presentation

Ghent University, abbreviated to UGent, was founded in 1817 by King William I of Orange. Today it is a top 100 university and one of the leading institutions of higher education and research in the Low Countries. Ghent University is an open, socially committed and pluralistic university with a broad international perspective. It is a fully comprehensive research-intensive institution of considerable size with over 41,000 students and 9,000 employees. The 11 faculties of Ghent University are composed of 117 faculty departments.
